About Early Childhood
Robust, world-class early learning is a pivotal component of the district performance plan. Both David E. Norman Elementary and McGill Elementary offer preschool for families who qualify. These programs are funded through grants. In Lund, volunteers run a community-based early learning program. We are proud of our youngest learners and the foundation that they build while on our campuses.
White Pine County School District provides special education services to students who are eligible starting at age 3. We work collaboratively with community preschools and families to achieve the best developmental outcomes for preschool students ages 3-6.
Your voice matters! Your school district is sharing this opportunity on behalf of the Nevada Department of Education. The Nevada Department of Education is working to strengthen how schools, districts, and the state partner with families of students receiving special education services. Sigma Associates Incorporated is supporting this work and will facilitate the family focus groups.
We want to hear directly from families about their experiences with special education in Nevada - what helps you feel informed, respected, and involved; what can make it harder to participate; and what schools and districts can do to build stronger partnerships with families.
During the focus group, we will also ask for your feedback on Nevada’s family survey, including a proposed shorter version. Your input will help us understand whether the questions reflect what matters to families and how the survey and other family feedback can be used to support meaningful improvements.
Participation is voluntary. There are no right or wrong answers, and feedback will be summarized without identifying you, your child, your school, or your district.
